Born in Nasik in 1971, Kiri Chandak's parents brought the whole family from Igatpuri to Pondicherry in 1973 for their education.
She graduated from the Sri Aurobindo international Centre of Education in 1991, did her B.F.A in painting from Khala Bhavana, Visva-Bharat Santiniketan (1992-1997), and her M.F.A in painting from Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda (1997-1999).
She is the recipient of the National Scholarship 1997-1999, was selected for a cultural exchange with Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1999, got the Junior Fellowship in 2000-2002, the special award from the Bombay Art Society in 2001, and got the Pollock-Krasner Foundaton grant from New York in 2003.
She has had many solo shows in India and participated in numerous group shows and art camps.
She is settled in Pondicherry and free lances as an artist and curator.
She is the founding member of the Shilpataru Foundation and the director of Tasmai, a centre for Art and Culture located in Kuruchikuppam, 17 Advocate Chinna Tambi Street.
